A visual display device's field of regard (FOR) refers to the amount of the physical space surrounding the user in which visual images are displayed. FOR is measured in degrees of visual angle. For example, if we built a cylindrical display in which a user couId stand, the display would have a 360-degree horizontal FOR. A related term, field of view (FOV), refers to the maximum number of degrees of visual angle that can be seen instantaneously on a display.
