We are trying to finish the Purge Gas items for Oshkosh plant. One issue is the setpoint of CH4 concentration where purging fermenter is permitted to exhaust to biofilter. Brian Langolf, UWO manager has conducted tests to provide information on the conditions at the biofilter. He manually directed the purging gas to the biofilter to measure CH4 at both mixing hall exhaust stack and the F2 purging fermenter. He also measured the gas at the effluent of the biofilter. There doesn’t appear to be any combined measurements at the biofilter influent. The influent test ports are on the respective exhaust stacks, not the biofilter itself. The conclusions indicate that UWO could send gas to the biofilter earlier in the purge cycle; this would avoid purging to atmosphere, save natural gas costs and keep the engine running smoother.
