The direct voltage is set dependent upon a process variable of the glow discharge so that a specific ratio in the power distribution between the two electrodes results.

I did a little more research on the Oxygen Glow discharge process. While you won’t have an issue with the diffusion pumping oxygen, there is probably not a significant benefit to performing an Oxygen glow on Cr Plated parts. Oxygen glows are however very useful in modifying the surface of organically finished parts such as painted surfaces. While I am not discouraging you from trying it, I don’t know if you will see a significant benefit. Ultimately you should try and correct the issue at the source. Where is this happening?
