hearers

1. If my complaints could passions move, Or make Love see wherein I suffer wrong: My passions were enough to prove, That my despairs had govern'd me too long. O Love, I live and die in thee, Thy grief in my deep sighs still speaks: Thy wounds do freshly bleed in me, My heart for thy unkindness breaks: Yet thou dost hope when I despair, And when I hope, thou mak'st me hope in vain. Thou say's thou canst my harms repair, Yet for redress, thou let'st me still complain. 2. Can Love be rich, and yet I want? Is Love my judge, and yet am I condemn'd? Thou plenty hast, yet me dost scant: Thou made a god, and yet thy pow'r contemn'd. That I do live, it is thy pow'r: That I desire it is thy worth: If Love doth make men's lives too sour, Let me not love, nor live henceforth. Die shall my hopes, but not my faith, That you that of my fall may hearers be May here despair, which truly saith, I was more true to Love than Love to me.

Wenn meine Beschwerden könnten Leidenschaften zu bewegen, oder Liebe machen sehen, wobei ich falsch leiden: Meine Leidenschaften waren genug, um zu beweisen, dass meine Verzweiflung hatte govern'd mir zu lange. O Liebe, ich lebe und sterbe in dir, deinen Kummer in meinem tiefen Seufzern spricht noch: Deine Wunden noch frisch in mir blutet, mein Herz für deine Lieblosigkeit Pausen: Doch du tust, wenn ich Hoffnung, Verzweiflung, und wenn ich hoffe, du mak ' st mir Hoffnung vergebens. Du sagen, ist du kannst meine Harms Reparatur, aber für den Streitfall, let'st du mich noch beschweren. 2. Kann Liebe reich sein, und doch ich will? Liebe ist mein Richter, und doch bin ich verdammt von? Du hast viel, aber mir machst kaum: Du machte einen Gott, und doch dein pow'r contemn'd. Tun, dass ich lebe, ist es dein pow'r: Dass ich wünsche, es ist dein wert: Wenn Liebe doth macht das Leben der Menschen zu sauer, Lassen Sie mich nicht lieben, noch leben fortan. Sterben werde meine Hoffnungen, aber nicht mein Glaube, dass du das von meinem Sturz kann hier Zuhörern Mai Verzweiflung, die wirklich sagt, ich war mehr als treu Liebe, mich zu lieben sein.

Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

Solches erinnere sie und bezeuge vor dem HERRN, daß sie nicht um Worte zanken, welches nichts nütze ist denn zu verkehren, die da zuhören.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Lasset kein faul Geschwätz aus eurem Munde gehen, sondern was nützlich zur Besserung ist, wo es not tut, daß es holdselig sei zu hören.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Seid aber Täter des Worts und nicht Hörer allein, wodurch ihr euch selbst betrügt.
