Following Federation as a new nation (the Commonwealth of Australia) on 1st January, 1901 the Commonwealth Government announced a Federal Flag design competition on 29th April, 1901. The review of Review for Australiasia, a Melbourne journal, had initiated an Australian flag competition in 1900, a unique event at the time. It was agreed that the entries received by this journal would be accepted in the Government’s competition. The contest attracted 32,823 entries from men, women and children. An expert panel of judges assessed the entries using guidelines which included history, heraldry, distinctiveness, utility and cost of manufacture, On 3rd September, 1901, a public ceremony was held at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, where Lady Hopetoun, wife of the Governor-General, opened a display of the entries in the competition.

The Screen Award for Best Music Director is chosen by a distinguished panel of judges from the Indian Bollywood film industry and the winners are announced in January.

Chaired by Mark Jones, Director of the V&A, the winner was decided by a panel of judges: Jananne Al-Ani, artist; Khaled Azzam, CEO, The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts, London; Ali Yussef Khadra, Founder, Canvas Group, Dubai; Charles Merewether, art historian, writer and curator; Venetia Porter, curator, Middle Eastern Department, British Museum and Parviz Tanavoli, sculptor.

And so it was that nummerable lovers of visual art gathered this year in the labrynth-like spaces of the city museum to applaud the works of artists such as Silva Šaria, who was awarded the first prize by the panel of judges for her work "Glass, spider-webs, dust" (Staklo, paueina, prah), 2001; Tomislav Brajnovia, who received the second-place prize for his installation under the title of "Sea" (More), 2001; Anselmo Tumpi?, who took first place in the young artists category the second time for his "Beauty and the Beast" (Ljepotica i Zvijer), oil on nylon; and finally Ljubo Škrnjuga, who was awarded an honourary award by the city of Rovinj for his acrylic on canvas, titled "Church in Zagoria" (Crkva u Zagorju).

So hatten dieses Jahr die Zuschauer in den Labyrinthähnlichenräumen des städtischen Musums versammelt eine Chance dem Preisträger des ersten Preis der Jury für das Werk "Glas, Spinnwebe, Staub" 2001., Silvio Saric ; dem Pristräger des zweiten Preis der Jury für Installation unter dem Titel "Mora"("Der Alptraum") 2001, Tomislav Brajnovic; dann Anselmo Trumpic, der zum zweiten Mal in Kategorie der jungen Künstler preisgekrönt für das Öl auf dem Nylon wurde, und Ljubo Skrnjuga , dem der Ehrenpreis der Stadt Rovinj für Akrill auf der Leinwand unter dem Titel " Die Kirche in Zagorje" erteilt worden ist, zu applaudieren.
