I therefore ask the Commission to look at the crux of this debate: how do we get good patent law which rewards our most innovative companies for their investment in R D while, at the same time, not allowing companies to use patents to abuse a dominant position, lock up technology and stifle innovation and competition?

Deswegen ersuche ich die Kommission, in dieser Debatte auf den springenden Punkt zu achten: Wie kommen wir zu einem guten Patentrecht, das unsere innovativsten Unternehmen für ihre FuE-Investitionen belohnt, während es gleichzeitig nicht zulässt, dass Unternehmen Patente zum Missbrauch einer beherrschenden Stellung ausnutzen, Technologie sperren und Innovation und Wettbewerb ersticken?

We will keep repeating to our colleagues, and especially to the Commissioner, that only a Community framework creates the conditions for an effective, competitive European patent law at international level.

Unseren Kolleginnen und Kollegen und besonders dem Herrn Kommissar werden wir wieder und wieder sagen, dass allein ein Gemeinschaftsrahmen die Voraussetzungen für ein wirksames, wettbewerbsfähiges europäisches Patentrecht auf internationaler Ebene schafft.
