Antimicrobial resistance of periodontal pathogens towards currently used antibiotics in periodontics has been investigated in a previous study. Microbial resistance in the periodontal microflora was more frequently observed in Spanish patients in comparison with Dutch patients. The aim of the present study was to compare antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of five periodontal bacteria isolated from periodontitis patients in Spain and in The Netherlands.

Mikrobielle Resistenz in der parodontalen Mikroflora wurde häufiger auf Spanisch Patienten im Vergleich zu niederländischen Patienten beobachtet. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war die antimikrobielle Empfindlichkeit Profile von fünf parodontale Bakterien aus Parodontitis-Patienten in Spanien und in den Niederlanden isoliert zu vergleichen.

In aggressive periodontitis the most common pathogen is Aa and therefore tetracycline, augmentin, or metronidazole and amoxicillin are recommended. In necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, which is caused usually by fusiform bacilli and spirochetes, metronidazole or augmentin are appropriate. In patients with periodontal disease who are allergic to penicillin can be treated with a macrolides.

In aggressiver Parodontitis die häufigste Erreger ist daher Aa und Tetracyclin, Augmentin, Metronidazol und Amoxicillin oder werden empfohlen. In nekrotisierende ulzeröse Gingivitis, die in der Regel durch spindelförmige Bazillen und Spirochäten verursacht wird, sind Metronidazol oder Augmentin angemessen. Bei Patienten mit Parodontitis, die allergisch auf Penicillin sind, können mit einem Makrolid-Antibiotika behandelt werden.
