Before the actual questioning of the expert, the plaintiff has the option to voir dire the expert. He has the right to do so because the expert has been appointed by the defendant. At the end of the trial the spokesman of the jury reads the verdict. Due to the preponderance of evidence they hold that the defendant is liable for the damage put forward by the plaintiff and also for pain and suffering. The amount for compensation, held by the jury, is 30 million US$. In his judgment the judge cuts the sum to 5 million US$.
