For example, the logic and control unit and thus the radio controlled clock may be wired to evaluate protocols in addition to or as an alternative to the protocol of the German transmitter DCF-77. More specifically the unit can be wired to operate with transmitter protocols such as WWVB in the USA and/or MSF in Great Britain, or GGY in Japan, or BPC in China. Thus, it is an advantage of the present receiver that it can handle any one or all of these protocols.

Beispielsweise kann die Logik- und Steuereinheit 30 und damit die Funkuhr dazu ausgelegt sein, neben dem deutschen Sendeprotokoll DCV77 zusätzlich oder alternativ auch andere Sendeprotokolle, wie WWVB (USA), MSF (Großbritannien), JJY (Japan), BPC (China), auszuwerten und weiter zu verarbeiten.
