As allelic variation is positively correlated to the observed number of mtDNA lineages, relatively recent admixture is assumed. However, several of the strongly introgressed populations are in HWE demonstrating a lack of reproductive isolation between native and introduced stocks, and most likely the result of multiple generations of interbreeding.
