(7) Whereas, therefore, there should be a general obligation to indicate both the selling price and the unit price for all products except for products sold in bulk, where the selling price cannot be determined until the consumer indicates how much of the product is required;

(7) Es sollte daher allgemein vorgeschrieben werden, für sämtliche Erzeugnisse sowohl den Verkaufspreis als auch den Preis je Maßeinheit anzugeben; ausgenommen sind Waren, die in losem Zustand zum Verkauf angeboten werden, da hier der Verkaufspreis nicht festgelegt werden kann, bevor der Verbraucher die gewünschte Menge angibt.

Article 3(3) provides that the selling price does not have to be indicated for products sold in bulk, i.e. products which are not pre-packaged and are measured in the presence of the consumer. Since the selling price of these products cannot be determined until the consumer indicates how much of the product is required, only the unit price needs to be indicated.

Artikel 3 Absatz 3 sieht vor, dass bei in losem Zustand zum Verkauf angebotenen Erzeugnissen der Verkaufspreis nicht angegeben zu werden braucht, d. h., bei Erzeugnissen, die nicht vorverpackt sind und in Gegenwart des Verbrauchers abgemessen werden. Da der Verkaufspreis dieser Erzeugnisse nicht bestimmt werden kann, bevor der Verbraucher angibt, welche Menge des Erzeugnisses benötigt wird, ist lediglich der Preis je Maßeinheit anzugeben.
