Summary & Conclusions Microsections and FIB (Focussed Ion Beam) analysis of SMT connector metallisation show layer thickness of ca. 2.2 μm of Ni and 50-90 nm of Gold. Metallographic sections show an irregular characteristic of the Ni-Sn intermetallic phase SEM/EDX analysis show nickel on both sides (pin and solder joint) of the remarkably smooth fracture surface.

Zusammenfassung- & -Schlußfolgerungen Schliffproben und FIB (fokussiert Ion Beam) Analyse der SMT Steckverbinder Metallisation zeigen Schichtstärke von ca. 2,2 μm von Ni und 50-90 nm Gold. Metallographische Abschnitte zeigen eine unregelmäßige Merkmal der Ni-Sn intermetallische Phase SEM/EDX Analyse Karte Nickel auf beiden Seiten der Oberfläche bemerkenswert glatte Fraktur (Pin und Lötstelle).

In our opinion we have an issue at solder joint.
