In February 2015 the initial forecast of the Free State of Saxony for the current year provided for around 1,700 refugees who would be assigned to the City of Leipzig, and this is the number we planned on.

1997 As a result of the territorial reform in the Free State of Saxony Hammerunterwiesenthal was incorporated into the municipality of the Health Resort Oberwiesenthal, whereas the inhabitants of Niederschlag achieved by a petition that their village was not incorporated into Oberwiesenthal but became a borough of Bärenstein on 1st January.

1997 Infolge der Gebietsreform des Freistaates Sachsen wurde Hammerunterwiesenthal in den Kurort Oberwiesenthal eingemeindet. Einer Unterschriftenaktion von Einwohnern Niederschlags ist es jedoch zu verdanken, dass der Ortsteil Niederschlag am 1. Januar nach Bärenstein eingemeindet werden konnte.
