This sensor reads the coolant temperature from the top of the thermostat housing, this is a sender unit which alot of people get confused with a switch. As it is a sender its only job is to relay the temperature to the cars ECU, it is also responsible for temp display on the speedo.

Dieser Sensor liest die Kühlmitteltemperatur vom oberen Rand das Thermostatgehäuse, dies ist eine Absender-Einheit, die eine Menge Leute werden mit einem Schalter verwirrt.
 Wie es ein Absender, was, den seine einzige Aufgabe Relay die Temperatur auf die Autos ECU ist ist, ist es auch verantwortlich für die temp Anzeige auf dem Tacho.

1.3 and 1.4 litre models 4 Remove the camshaft toothed belt cover, which is secured by five screws. 5 Slacken the clip and detach the radiator top hose from the thermostat housing. 6 Remove the two bolts and detach the thermostat housing (see illustration). On later models the thermostat housing may not be accessible until the camshaft toothed belt back plate has been removed, if necessary remove the plate as described in Chapter 2.

 4 Deckel Nockenwelle gezähnte Gürtel,
 fünf Schrauben gesichert ist.
 5 Nachlassen den Clip und trennen Kühler oben
 Schlauch aus dem Thermostatgehäuse.
 6 Entfernen Sie die zwei Schrauben und Trennen der
 Thermostatgehäuse (siehe Abbildung). Auf später
 Modelle der Thermostatgehäuse möglicherweise nicht
 zugänglich, bis die Nockenwelle Gürtel gezahnt
 Rückenplatte wurde, ggf. entfernt
 Entfernen Sie die Platte, wie in Kapitel 2 beschrieben.
