To the person above me: If it hurts, it's WRONG very very WRONG, yes you will get (relatively) mediocre results and sound pretty "badass". But that's a great way to get vocal chord nodules. What I did was push air slowly from my diaphragm (the same muscle that is used in sucking in your stomach) then start putting the throat in there SLOWLY. The SECOND you feel pain you're probably putting to much in your throat and not your diaphragm. The only problem I ever had with this was I had a bad cough for the first week when I was getting my airflow right. Just remember to take it slowly and respond what your body is telling you.
