That evening, as arranged, we motored to a small parking area from which we walked higher to gain a viewpoint over looking the very tiny cove at Nugget Point. And there, almost on the strike of eight O-clock, the first of the yellow-eyed penguins waddled out of the calm water and, in its own rather ungainly style, made its way up towards the shelter of the rocks. There followed a succession of more and more of them until, as the darkness made visibility almost impossible, a considerable number of them had made their evening exit from the protection of the water.

An diesem Abend als vereinbart, fuhren wir auf einen kleinen Parkplatz, aus dem wir höher gingen um ein Aussichtspunkt mit Blick auf die sehr kleine Bucht bei Nugget Point zu gewinnen. Und dort, fast auf den Streik acht O-Clock, die erste der Gelbaugen Pinguine herumwackelt aus dem ruhigen Wasser und, in ihren eigenen eher plumpen Stil, machte seinen Weg nach oben in Richtung der Schutz der Felsen. Es folgten eine Folge von mehr und mehr von ihnen erst, als die Dunkelheit machte Sicht fast unmöglich, eine beträchtliche Anzahl von ihnen ihren Abend von den Schutz des Wassers Ausfahrt gemacht hatte.
