The impulse to revolt. Revolving, rotating, mirroring, repeating, reversing, turning upside down or inside out, changing perspectives. I imagine the 16th Biennale of Sydney as a constellation of historical and contemporary works of art that celebrate and explore these dynamics, both in art and life. The ‘space’ explored by this exhibition is the gap between the first part of the title – revolutions – which suggests a directly political and content-first part of the title – revolutions – which suggests a directly political and content-based exhibition,and the subsequent phrase – forms that turn – which alternatively suggests the autonomy and isolation of the art object, spinning on its own and detached from daily life, or the energy and the potential of latent in forms themselves (turns that form).

Der Impuls zur Revolte. Karusselltüren, Drehen, Spiegeln, wiederholen, Rückwärtsfahren, Umdrehen oder von innen nach außen, wechselnde Perspektiven. Ich stelle mir die 16. Biennale von Sydney als eine Konstellation von historischer und zeitgenössischer Kunstwerke, die feiern und erkunden diese Dynamik, sowohl in Kunst und Leben. Der "Raum" durch diese Ausstellung erforscht ist die Lücke zwischen dem ersten Teil des Titels - Revolutionen - Revolutionen - - die eine unmittelbar politische und inhaltliche ersten Teil der Titel vermuten lässt, die einen unmittelbar politischen und Content-basierten Ausstellung suggeriert, und die nachfolgenden Satz - Formen, die wiederum - die alternativ schlägt die Autonomie und Isolation des Kunstobjekts, Spinning auf eigene und losgelöst vom Alltag, oder die Energie und das Potential der latent in Formen selbst (dreht sich, dass Form).

Commissioned and maintained by Dia Art Foundation, The Lightning Field is recognized internationally as one of the late-twentieth century's most significant works of art and exemplifies Dia's commitment to the support of art projects whose nature and scale exceed the limits normally available within the traditional museum or gallery. Dia also maintains two other of De Maria's projects, both located in New York City: The Broken Kilometer (1979) and The New York Earth Room (1977).

Jahrhundert zu den bedeutendsten Kunstwerke erkannt und beispielhaft für Dia Engagement für die Unterstützung von Kunstprojekten, deren Art und Umfang über die Grenzen in der Regel innerhalb des traditionellen Museums oder eine Galerie. Dia unterhält auch zwei andere von De Marias Projekte, die beide in New York City: The Broken Kilometer (1979) und The New York Earth Room (1977).
