crept out the back door and my neighbor's dog started yapping. Hissing at him to shut up I ran down the alley to avoid the streetlights until I got to the park. From there it was an easy trek up past the pavilions and around the pond over to the gardens. Then things got a little trickier. It was late and the Botanical Gardens were closed for the night, but I knew a place where I could get over the fence and minutes later I could see the glow of the green house in the distance. My heart was beating a hundred miles an hour now. I was so close, but anything could happen. I might have tripped some security thing or a guard might pop up around any corner and if that happened it was all over. But none of those things happened and it turned out that the back door to the green house wasn't even locked! I opened it and slipped in. Then I smelled it

kroch heraus die Hintertür und mein Nachbar Hund gestartete kläffen. Zischen bei ihm den Mund zu halten, dass ich lief in die Gasse, die Straßenbeleuchtung zu vermeiden, bis ich in den Park. Von dort war es eine leichte Wanderung vorbei an den Pavillons und rund um den Teich über zu den Gärten. Dann haben die Dinge ein wenig komplizierter. Es war spät und des Botanischen Gartens wurden für die Nacht geschlossen, aber ich wusste, dass einen Ort, wo ich konnte über den Zaun und Minuten später konnte ich das Leuchten des grünen Hauses in der Ferne sehen. Mein Herz schlug hundert Meilen pro Stunde jetzt. Ich war so nah, aber alles passieren könnte. Ich könnte etwas Sicherheit ausgelöst haben oder eine Wache könnte pop-up um jede Ecke und wenn das geschehen, es ist war alles vorbei. Aber keine dieser Dinge geschehen, und es stellte sich heraus, dass die Hintertür in das grüne Haus war nicht sogar gesperrt! Ich öffnete es und rutschte. Dann roch ich es
