Abgötterei

Abgötterei und Lüge laß ferne von mir sein; Armut und Reichtum gib mir nicht, laß mich aber mein bescheiden Teil Speise dahinnehmen.

Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

Sie haben mich gereizt an dem, das nicht Gott ist; mit ihrer Abgötterei haben sie mich erzürnt. Und ich will sie wieder reizen an dem, das nicht ein Volk ist; an einem törichten Volk will ich sie erzürnen.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

auf daß ich das Haus Israel fasse an ihrem Herzen, darum daß sie alle von mir gewichen sind durch ihre Abgötterei.

That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

Denn Gilead ist eine Stadt voll Abgötterei und Blutschulden.

Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

(-) Ephraim weidet sich am Winde und läuft dem Ostwind nach und macht täglich der Abgötterei und des Schadens mehr; sie machen mit Assur einen Bund und bringen Balsam nach Ägypten.

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Nun aber sollen sie ihre Abgötterei und die Leichen ihrer Könige fern von mir wegtun; und ich will ewiglich unter ihnen wohnen.

Now let them put away their whoredom, and the carcases of their kings, far from me, and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.

Alsdann werdet ihr an euer böses Wesen gedenken und an euer Tun, das nicht gut war, und wird euch eure Sünde und Abgötterei gereuen.

Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

(-) In Gilead ist Abgötterei, darum werden sie zunichte; und in Gilgal opfern sie Ochsen, darum sollen ihre Altäre werden wie die Steinhaufen an den Furchen im Felde.

Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
