e1 = ( 4 ) Wenn der Tank einen Schutz gegen Beschaedigung durch seitliches Anfahren oder Ueberschlagen aufweist , kann die zustaendige Behoerde zulassen , dass diese Mindestdicken im Verhaeltnis zu diesem Schutz verringert werden ; fuer Tanks mit einem Durchmesser von nicht mehr als 1,80 m ( ) duerfen diese Dicken jedoch nicht weniger als 3 mm bei Verwendung von Baustahl ( ) oder eine gleichwertige Dicke bei Verwendung anderer Metalle betragen ( ) . Fuer Tanks mit einem Durchmesser von mehr als 1,80 m ( ) ist diese Dicke bei Verwendung von Baustahl ( ) auf 4 mm zu erhoehen oder auf eine gleichwertige Dicke bei Verwendung eines anderen Metalls . Unter gleichwertiger Dicke versteht man diejenige , die durch die nachstehende Formel bestimmt wird :

e1 = ( 4 ) Where protection of the shell against damage through lateral impact or overturning is provided , the competent authority may allow the aforesaid minimum thicknesses to be reduced in proportion to the protection provided ; however , the said thicknesses shall not be less than 3 mm in the case of mild steel ( ) , or than an equivalent thickness in the case of other materials , for shells not more than 1,80 m in diameter ( ) .
