Am 10. März 1996, anläßlich des Treffens der Hilfsgruppe mit den bilateralen und multilateralen Spendern in Paris, haben die deutsche Delegation und die Delegation der Kommission Bangladesh eindringlich aufgefordert, die Menschenrechte zu wahren und den Friedensprozeß in den Hügeln von Chittagong zu beschleunigen. In ihrer Antwort hat die Delegation von Bangladesh erklärt, daß die neue, seit Juli 1996 amtierende Regierung entschlossen ist, dieses Problem durch Verhandlungen unter Einbeziehung der Stammeshäuptlinge sowie der indischen Regierung zu lösen.

On the 10th March 1996, at the aid group meeting in Paris with the bilateral and multilateral donors, the German delegation and the Commission delegation have put pressure on Bangladesh to respect human rights and speed up the peace process in the Chittagong hills, In response, the Bangladeshi delegation declared that the new government in office since July 1996 has decided to settle the matter by negotiations, involving tribal chiefs and also the Indian government.
