Herr Präsident, meine Damen und Herren Abgeordneten! Erneut sind die unvergleichliche Naturlandschaft der galicischen Rías und der Flussmündung des Minho sowie die Menschen, die an den Küsten leben, bedroht, dieses Mal durch diesen abscheulichen Schiffsuntergang, ein wahrhaftes Musterbeispiel für all das, was in unseren Meeren nicht mehr geschehen dürfte und sollte.

Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, the incomparable natural landscape of Galicia's coasts and the Minho estuary as well as the communities living along the coasts are once again under threat, this time from this appalling shipwreck, which is a veritable showcase of everything that should no longer be happening on our seas.

Diese Zahlen werden allerdings dahingehend bezweifelt, dass ihrer Berechnung manchmal einzig und allein das Produkt aus Fallhöhe bis zur Flussmündung mal Abfluss an einem gebenen Ort zugrunde liegt. Man könnte dieses Potential also nur dann nutzen, wenn man einen riesigen Damm an der Flussmündung bauen würde.
