The Commission lent its support to a research project carried out by the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers on the practical impact of the Posting of Workers Directive, which was followed up by a conference.

At its peak, the timber industry in the area employed 420 men.

Die Kommission unterstützte ein Forschungsprojekt über die praktischen Auswirkungen der Entsenderichtlinie, das von der Europäischen Föderation der Bau-und Holzarbeiter durchgeführt wurde und zu dem später eine Konferenz stattfand.Daraufhin wurde der Entwurf eines zweiten Berichts über die Umsetzung von Richtlinie 96/71/EG erarbeitet, der dieselben Probleme thematisiert wie die Entschließung des Parlaments.

Could the Commission outline what action it has taken in response to the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on 15 January 2004 on the implementation of Directive 96/71/EC(2) concerning the Posting of Workers in connection with the provision of services (P5_TA(2004)0030) which noted that the implementation, as intended by the Directive, of core labour standards in the free movement of services and the prevention of social dumping often fails to be achieved in practice, and, in particular, to point 10, which called on it to submit proposals to simplify and improve the existing Directive with a view to obtaining better implementation and application of the Directive in practice as well as better achieving the goals of the Directive, and point 14, which called on it to submit a second report to the Council and the European Parliament on the implementation of the Directive no later than by the end of 2004?. Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, the Commission attaches a great deal of importance to Parliament's resolution on the Member States 'implementation of Directive 96/71/EC on the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services.
