Wir sind in diesem Parlament die Tribüne der Völker der Europäischen Union, und wir sind hier zusammengekommen, um in würdiger Form unsere Entrüstung, unsere Anteilnahme, unsere Solidarität und unsere in der Humanität und der Demokratie verwurzelte Verbundenheit mit dem Volk der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, mit den Menschen von New York City und Washington D.C. zu erklären.

We in this Parliament are the tribune of the peoples of the European Union and we have gathered here today to declare solemnly our outrage, our sympathy, our solidarity and our common bond in humanity and democracy with the people of the United States of America, and with the people of New York City and Washington D.C.

Hier geht es doch um Menschlichkeit, um Humanität, um etwas, das selbstverständlich sein sollte.

It should be painfully clear that this is a question of common humanity.

All dies gehört zusammen, wenn man hier zu einem Erfolg kommen will. Dann können wir auch erfolgreich vor unsere eigene Bevölkerung treten, denn dies ist nicht allein eine Frage der Humanität.

All these things fit together if we want to deal with these things successfully, and also gain the approval of our own people.
