Herr Präsident, liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen! Wir sind fast am Ende einer langen Reise, die zuweilen eine Irrfahrt war, eine Odyssee, und auf der wir gelegentlich in schwierige Wasser geraten sind.

Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, we are nearing the end of a long journey, an odyssey that has, from time to time, seen us wandering far afield and sometimes finding ourselves in choppy waters.

Erstens die barbarischen NATO-Bombardements gegen Jugoslawien, die Hunderttausende zu Flüchtlingen machen und den gesamten Balkan zu destabilisieren drohen, und zweitens die dreimonatige Irrfahrt von Öcalan durch Europa, dem nicht nur kein Asyl gewährt wurde, sondern der im Grunde genommen auf undurchsichtige und rechtswidrige Weise an seine Verfolger ausgeliefert wurde.
