Dass sie immer wieder (mit Erfolg) versucht hat, dieses Prinzip auf den Kopf zu stellen, macht aus ihr bis heute eine moderne Frau. Deswegen sehen wir die Courasche in dem Stück von Wilhelm Genazino auch als Reisende durch die Altersstationen ihres Lebens. Vorlage zu Genazinos Courasche ist die Erzählung Trutz Simplex Oder ... Lebensbeschreibung der Ertzbetrügerin und Landstörtzerin Courasche von Jakob Christoph von Grimmelshausen (1670), die auch Bertolt Brecht zur Grundlage seines Dramas (Uraufführung 1941 in Zürich) machte.

The fact that she tried successfully again and again to overturn this principle makes her appear a modern woman to this day. Hence, the Courasche in Wilhelm Genanzino’s play may be seen as a traveller through different age-related stages of her life. Template for Genanzino’s Courasche is the narration of Trutz Simplex Oder… Lebensbeschreibung der Ertzbetrügerin und Landstörzerin Courasche by Jakob Christoph von Grimmelshausen (1670), the same template that Bertolt Brecht used as a basis of his drama (debut performance 1941 in Zurich).
