In diesem Modellprojekt wird zusätzlich zur traditionellen Form der mittleren feuerwehrtechnischen Ausbildung ein neuer Weg beschritten. Schulabgänger mit mittlerem Schulabschluss werden als Feuerwehrleute gewonnen. Das war bisher nicht möglich, da eine der Voraussetzungen für die Einstellung eine abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung war.
