Polar night

In den Polarzonen gibt es den Polartag und die Polarnacht.

In the polar regions, there is the polar day and polar night.

An den Polen dauern Polartag und Polarnacht jeweils ein halbes Jahr.

Polar day and polar night, each lasting half a year at the poles.

Nicht umsonst glaubten die Menschen früherer Zeiten, dass die Seelen ihrer verstorbenen Mitmenschen ihnen die lange Dunkelheit der Polarnacht erhellten oder sich andere überirdische Ereignisse am Himmel abspielten.

No wonder the people of earlier times believed that the souls of their deceased lit the long darkness of the polar nights for them or that other supernatural events were taking place in the sky.

Die Polarnacht dauert von Mitte November bis Ende Januar.

The polar night lasts from the middle of November through the end of January.

Während viele unserer Gäste das große Abenteuer suchen, kommen immer mehr um sich einfach mal so richtig zu entspannen. Lappland, das bedeutet Weite, Stille, Reinheit. In Verbindung mit der luxuriösen, verwöhnenden Gemütlichkeit des Feeling sind somit die Rahmenbedingung gegeben, sich einmal ganz von Alltag und Hektik loszulösen und den hohen Norden auf sein Gemüt wirken zu lassen. Die Landschaft der Region Ylläs um das Dorf Äkäslompolo herum ist geprägt von sieben mächtigen Fjälls, unberührt wirkenden Waldhainen und kristallklaren Gewässern. Hier hat jede Jahreszeit ihren eigenen Zauber: Die glitzernd weiße Schneedecke im Frühling, die Mitternachtssonne im Sommer, die leuchtende Farbenpracht des Herbstes und das Nordlicht über der Polarnacht des arktischen Winters.

More and more of our guests are coming to Ylläs to relax and experience the local life of the traditional Lappish village Äkäslompolo; to enjoy the warmth of the fireplace and the famous Finnish sauna; to eat well and to simply to rest and relax in the warmth and peace of Lapland Feeling Log Cabin. Many of our guests also like to watch over the clear night skies; during the winter months in order to catch the Northern Lights; and during the summer months to experience the time of the Midnight Sun. During the following two months the forests and fells glow with their autumn tints. At any time of the year the there’s always plenty of Lapland activities to enjoy for a special holiday.
