Kürzlich wurde gezeigt, dass Hydroxycarbamid mit der Bildung von Stickoxid in Zusammenhang steht, was darauf hindeutet, dass Stickoxid die Produktion von zyklischer Guanosinmonophosphatase (cGMP) anregt, die dann wiederum eine Proteinkinase aktiviert und die Bildung von HbF steigert.

Recently, hydroxycarbamide has shown to be associated with the generation of nitric oxide suggesting that nitric oxide stimulates cyclic guanosine monophosphatase (cGMP) production, which then activates a protein kinase and increases the production of HbF.
