Man sollte ein gutes Allgemeinwissen haben und auf ein lebenslanges Lernen vorbereitet sein, weil man als Chirug ständig mit neuen Verfahren zur Behandlung und Diagnosen auseinandersetzen muss. Da zur Chirugie auch Aufschlitzen des Körpers zählt, sollte man auch Blut sehen können und natürlich eine ruhige Hand haben. Wichtig ist auch das man Soziale Kompetenzen haben sollte, denn Teamwork als chirug ist sehr wichtig.
