Im duft an Weißbrot und Dörrfrüchte erinnernd, ergibt er sehr kräftige, extraktreiche Weine, die auch bei hoher Reife noch eine angenehme Säure besitzen, er gewinnt mit zunehmender Flaschenreife noch an Niveau. In der Steiermark, wo er sehr frische, zartblumige Weine liefert, wird er als Morillon kultiviert. Er wird aber auch zunehmend in Niederösterreich, Burgenland und Wien angebaut.
