Darum nenne ich es Rahab, die zum Schweigen Gebrachte. 8 Geh nun hin, schreib es bei ihnen auf eine Tafel und zeichne es in ein Buch ein, damit es für einen künftigen Tag bleibe als Zeuge bis in Ewigkeit! 9 Denn ein widerspenstiges Volk ist es, verlogene Söhne, Söhne, die das Gesetz des HERRN nicht hören wollen, 10 die zu den Sehern sagen: Seht nicht! und zu den Schauenden: Schaut uns nicht das Richtige! Sagt uns Schmeicheleien! Schaut uns Täuschungen! 11 Weicht ab vom Weg, biegt ab vom Pfad! Laßt uns in Ruhe mit dem Heiligen Israels! 12 Darum, so spricht der Heilige Israels: Weil ihr dieses Wort verwerft und auf Unterdrückung und Arglist vertraut und euch darauf stützt, 13 darum wird für euch diese Schuld wie ein sturzbringender Riß sein, der sich vorschiebt an einer hochragenden Mauer, deren Zusammenbruch in einem Augenblick, plötzlich kommt. 14 Und er wird sie zerbrechen, wie man einen Töpferkrug zerbricht, mitleidslos zertrümmert, und unter dessen Bruchstücken man nicht ein [ganzes] Tongefäß findet, um [damit] Feuer vom Herd zu holen oder Wasser aus einer Wassergrube zu schöpfen.

7 For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I named her, Arrogance, that doeth nothing. 8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and record it in a book, that it may be for the time to come, as a witness for ever, 9 that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah; 10 who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things; speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits; 11 get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us! 12 Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because ye reject this word, and confide in oppression and wilfulness, and depend thereon, 13 therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a towering wall, whose breaking shall come suddenly in an instant.
