The natural reserve Punta Aderci (or Punta d'Erce) is a protected area established in 1998. It is extended on a surface of 285 hectares, northern to the Vasto port, until reaching the Sinello river, where it is possible to visit the only broad-leaved wood in the reserve. Among the typical vegetation of sandy beaches: the rivastrello flower, the ammophila, the sea holly, the xanthium italicum, the beach caper, the yellow poppy, the myrtle, the Kali-salzkraut, the sea lily, the thorny fennel. Off the coast of the reserve it is possible to view the Striped dolphins, or tursiops dolphins besides other several marine species typical of the Adriatic sea. Birds: people keen on bird watching can observe here besides the fratino (Charadrius alexandrinus), which is the reserve symbol, the major flamingo, the grey heron, the night heron, the sgarza adreola, the little Bittern, the Botaurus, the little egrette, among the birds of prey the kestrel and the buzzard.
