Thrissur, the town with the name of Lord Shiva, is considered to be the cultural capital of Kerala. Such status is proved by activities of Natana Kairali research and performing center for traditional arts, Academy of Music and Theatre, Academy of Literature. This classic example of the Kerala style of architecture contains the sacred shrines of deities. And it is here where popular pageantry – Pooram - is celebrated in April-May every year.
