The right side of the tree is overlapped by the Santa and does not need to be appliqued. Applique the left side and bottom of the tree in place then baste the right side of the tree. Trim away any excess green as necessary when stitching the overlapping sections in place. When positioning pieces that are a distance apart (like the reindeer the antlers) pin the intermediate pieces in place to be sure that all the shapes will overlap properly.
