An ICT assay for the detection of S. pneumoniae bacteria or the C-polysaccharide cell wall antigen of said bacteria which comprises: a) contacting a sample of a fluid suspected of containing said bacteria or their antigen with a ICT device comprising a strip of a bibulous material, which strip has b) allowing said sample to flow laterally along said test strip to said first zone, c) allowing said sample, together with said conjugate of antigen-specific antibodies and label, to flow laterally along said test strip to said second zone, and d) within approximately 15 minutes from the commencement of step (a) observing through said window whether a line of color has appeared in said second zone, thereby indicating the presence in the sample of or its cell wall C-polysaccharide antigen.

ICT Assay zur Bestimmung von S. pneumoniae Bakterien oder des C-Polysaccharid Zellwand Antigens der Bakterien, umfassend: a) In Kontakt Bringen einer Probe eines Fluids, von dem angenommen wird die Bakterien oder ihr Antigen zu enthalten, mit einer ICT Vorrichtung einen Streifen eines saugfähigen Materials umfassend, wobei der Streifen aufweist b) Zulassen, dass die Probe seitlich an dem Teststreifen entlang zu dem ersten Bereich fließt, c) Zulassen, dass die Probe zusammen mit dem Konjugat der Antigen-spezifischen Antikörper und Marker seitlich an dem Teststreifen entlang zu dem zweiten Bereich fließt, und d) innerhalb von näherungsweise 15 Minuten vom Beginn des Schritts (a), Beobachten durch das Fenster, ob eine Farblinie in dem zweiten Bereich aufgetreten ist, wodurch in der Probe die Anwesenheit von oder seines Zellwand C-Polysaccharid Antigens angezeigt wird.
