Dento-facial growth and development The fully developed cranium represents the sum of its separate parts, in which growth is highly differentiated and occurs at different rates and in different directions, and is indeed most complicated. We have learned from years of research that the fully-grown skull is not simply a larger version of the infant form and that the adult skull differs not only in size but also in shape from that of the child, depending on a process of differential growth in various parts of the cranium. Growth acceleration of most distances has been noted between 5–7 and 13–16 years as well as a residual growth of minor degree of some distances even in adult ages (6) (Fig. 1). The growth of the soft tissue profile follows the growth in the underlying bony parts. The convexity of the face will change with age to a straight or even a concave profile, the tip of the nose increases in size, and the lip profile follows the changes of the dentition.

Dentofaziale Wachstum und Entwicklung Der voll entwickelte Cranium stellt die Summe seiner einzelnen Teile, in denen das Wachstum hoch differenziert ist und tritt mit verschiedenen Geschwindigkeiten und in verschiedene Richtungen, und ist in der Tat die komplizierteste. Wir haben von Jahren der Forschung erfahren, dass die ausgewachsenen Schädel ist nicht einfach eine größere Version des Säuglings und Form, dass die erwachsenen Schädel unterscheidet sich nicht nur in der Größe, sondern auch in Form von der des Kindes, abhängig von einem Prozess der Differential Wachstum in verschiedenen Teilen des Schädels. Beschleunigung des Wachstums der meisten Strecken hat zwischen 5-7 und 13-16 Jahren sowie einer Rest-Wachstum von geringer Grad an einigen Strecken sogar im erwachsenen Alter (6) (Abb. 1) festgestellt worden. Das Wachstum des Weichgewebes Profil folgt dem Wachstum in den darunter liegenden Knochen. Die Konvexität des Gesichts wird mit dem Alter zu einer geraden oder sogar eine konkave Profil zu ändern, erhöht sich die Spitze der Nase in der Größe, und die Lippe Profil folgt den Veränderungen des Gebisses.
