Loeschcke cited the back of the statue as evidence for his theory. There is a single wing of Victory on the back, but the image is incomplete. Since the statue was going to be placed against a wall, the back would be blocked from view. An artist would have foreseen this in his design. However, a copyist would carve all of the images directly from the original and stop half way only when he realized the futility of carving the back.
