2. Extract fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) by adding 2 ml of 2% KHCO3 followed by 5 ml of hexane/diethyl ether (1:1, v/v) containing 0.01% butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) as antioxidant. Mix and centrifuge at 500 x g (approx 1200 rpm on bench centrifuge).

3. Remove upper layer into a clean test tube and add 5 ml of hexane/diethyl ether (1:1, v/v) without 0.01% BHT. Mix and centrifuge at 500 x g (approx 1200 rpm on bench centrifuge).

3. Entfernen Sie die obere Schicht in ein sauberes Reagenzglas und 5 ml Hexan/Diethylether (1:1, V/V) ohne 0,01 % BHT. Mix und Zentrifuge bei 500 X g (ca. 1200 u/min auf Bank-Zentrifuge).

The butter or concentrated butter is saponified with potassium hydroxide in ethanolic solution and the unsaponifiables are extracted with diethyl ether.
