Historical Reflection on the Statue The statue's style reflects the political and cultural environment of the time. Unlike earlier Hellenistic statues, Augustus is depicted to be still and calm. There is little movement. Even on the breastplate, there are no signs of battles or turmoil. This is in accord to the peaceful Augustan era where civil wars finally drew to a close3. Although there are many indirect references to the divinities, Augustus is not portrayed as a god. He wears no crown of solar rays like Alexander the Great3. Indeed, throughout his reign, Augustus repeatedly refused to be deified or even named dictator. He preferred to keep the façade of a republic and not induce jealousy through dictatorship. The memory of his adopted father's claim to sole rule and the followed assassination was still fresh in his mind10.

 Die Statue Stil spiegelt das politische und kulturelle Umfeld der Zeit. Im Gegensatz zu früher Hellenistic Statuen ist Augustus um sei still und ruhig dargestellt. Es gibt wenig Bewegung. Auch auf der Brustplatte gibt es keine Anzeichen von Schlachten oder Turbulenzen. Dies ist im Einklang zur friedlichen Augustan Ära wo Bürgerkriege schließlich zu einem close3 zeichnete.
 
 Zwar gibt es viele indirekte Verweise auf die Göttlichkeiten, wird Augustus nicht als Gott dargestellt. Er trägt keine Krone der Sonnenstrahlen wie Alexander der Great3. In der Tat während seiner Herrschaft Augustus wiederholt abgelehnt vergöttert oder sogar Diktator ernannt werden. Er zog zu halten die Fassade einer Republik und nicht Eifersucht durch Diktatur auslösen. Die Erinnerung an seinen Adoptivvater Anspruch auf alleinige Herrschaft und der Ermordung gefolgt war noch frisch in seinem mind10.
