We have already a licence agreement with Elsevier for "Methods in enzymology", and now we have signed this addemum. And everywhere stands my name as the institutional representive. I am very disappointed that once again a letter/mail was incorrectly addressed.

According to Savige and Fontana (Methods in Enzymology 47, 453-459, 1977), suitable for the conversion of methionine into methionine sulfoxide are photooxidation promoted by dyestuffs (for example methylene blue, eosin, riboflavin and, particularly specifically, by hematoporphyrin at a pH below 7), as well as substances which contain positive halogen, such as N-bromosuccinimide; N-chlorosuccinimide; 2,4,6-tribromo-4-methylcyclohexadienone; BNPS-skatole (2-(nitrophenylsulfonyl)-3-methyl-3-bromoindolamine); chloramine T; t-butyl hypochlorite; trichloromethanesulfonyl chloride, furthermore 1-chlorobenzotriazole, iodobenzene dichloride in aqueous pyridine, pyridine bromide complexes, quinolines and, especially, 1,4-diazobicyclo[2.2.2]octanes in aqueous acetic acid.

Zur Umwandlung von Methionin in Methioninsulfoxid eignen sich nach Savige und Fontana (Methods in Enzymology 47, 453 - 459, 1977) Farbstoff- (z. B. Methylenblau, Eosin, Riboflavin und besonders spezifisch durch Hematoporphyrin bei pH unter 7) vermittelte Photooxidation sowie Substan­ zen, die positives Halogen enthalten, wie N-Bromsuccini­ mid; N-Chlorsuccinimid; 2,4,6-Tribromo-4-methylcyclohexa­ dienon; BNPS-Skatol (2-(nitrophenylsulfonyl)-3-methyl-3-­ bromoindolamin); Chloramin T; t-Butylhypochlorit; Tri­ chlormethansulfonylchlorid, ferner 1-Chlorobenzotriazol, Jodobenzenedichlorid in wäßrigem Pyridin, Pyridinbromid­ komplexe, Quinoline und besonders 1,4-Diazobicyclo (2.2.2) octane in wäßriger Essigsäure.
