Austria has a technically usable fermentation gas potential of approximately 1 billion cubic meter (24 Petajoule) per year, this corresponds to 6,7 % of the annual natural gas consumption of about 9 billions cubic meters. In case of using the whole Austrian fermentation gas potential the CO2-emissions could be reduced by 1,18 mio. tons per year.

Österreich weist ein technisch nutzbares Biogas-Potenzial von rund 1 Milliarde Kubikmeter mit einem Energiegehalt von 24 Petajoule pro Jahr auf, das entspricht in etwa 6,7 % des jährlichen Erdgasverbrauchs von 9 Milliarden Kubikmeter. Bei Nutzung des vorhandenen Biogaspotenzials könnte die CO2-Emissionen um jährlich 1,18 Millionen Tonnen gesenkt werden.
