Oxygen deficiency may occur due to inert gas purging of equipment, when performing welding that uses an inert shielding gas in poorly ventilated or confined spaces [e.g. TIG (tungsten inert gas) or MIG/MAG (metal inert/active gas welding)] or a leak occurs from the inert gas source like a supply line or pressurized cylinder.
