Junghae Lee was born in Tokyo and returned to Korea with her family at the age of six. There she completed her school education and began her studies in composition at Seoul National University. She then continued her education in Vienna and Basel where she also trained as a harpsichordist.

Geboren in Tokio. Im Alter von sechs Jahren kehrte sie mit ihrer Familie zurück nach Korea. Dort machte sie ihren Schulabschluss und begann ihr Kompositionsstudium an der Seoul National University.Fortsetzung des Studiums in Wien und in Basel, wo sie auch als Cembalistin ausgebildet wurde.
