Upper face (naso-maxillary complex) The transversal growth occurs by separation of the two maxillary bodies in the median suture. The sagittal growth is the result of an anterior displacement of the maxilla, because of bone deposition on the tuberosity and at adjacent sutures, thus creating space for eruption of posterior teeth (Fig. 2a). The vertical growth is the combined result of a sutural lowering of the maxilla as a whole and remodelling at the bone surfaces (8). This lowering creates space for the nasal cavity, which continues to be lowered because of resorption nasally, with simultaneous deposition of bone orally on the palate (Fig. 2b). The vertical growth hence is a result of two separate growth processes: drift, because of remodelling growth, and displacement, as a result of movement of the maxilla as a whole.

Die sagittale Wachstum ist das Ergebnis einer Vorverlagerung des Oberkiefers, weil der Knochen Abscheidung auf der Tuberositas und an benachbarten Fäden und schafft so Platz für den Durchbruch der Backenzähne (Abb. 2a). Das vertikale Wachstum ist die kombinierte Ergebnis des Sutur Absenken des Oberkiefers als Ganzes und Umbau an den Knochenoberflächen (8). Diese Absenkung schafft Raum für die Nasenhöhle, die wegen der Resorption nasal gesenkt werden, bei gleichzeitiger Ablagerung von Knochen mündlich am Gaumen (Abb. 2b) geht weiter. Das vertikale Wachstum ist folglich ein Resultat von zwei separaten Wachstumsprozesse: Drift wegen Umbau Wachstum und Verschiebung als Folge der Bewegung der Maxilla als Ganzes.
