Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism are referred to as “lower-order aberrations”. In addition to these, our eyes have complex “higher-order aberrations” that are not correctable with glasses or contact lenses but can also decrease our quality of vision. In Ultimate LASIK, higher-order aberrations are first diagnosed and measured using the WASCA analyzer, which creates a wavefront map.
