Group leader at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, Magdeburg. Setup of a laboratory for the study of multichannel cortical neurodyamics in awake behaving rodents. Establishment of single-trial analysis methods. Research on learning-induced plasticity. Teaching at the departments of Neuroscience and Physics and at the Medical School. Supervision of graduate projects (dissertations) from science departments and medical departments.

Gruppenleiter am Leibniz-Institut für Neurobiologie, Magdeburg. Aufbau eines Labors für die Untersuchung der kortikalen Mehrkanal neurodyamics in wach verhalten Nagetiere. Gründung der Single-Studie Analysemethoden. Recherche über das Lernen induzierte Plastizität. Die Lehre an den Abteilungen für Neurowissenschaften und Physik und an der Medizinischen Hochschule. Betreuung von Diplom-Projekte (Dissertationen) aus Wissenschaft Abteilungen und medizinischen Abteilungen.

My primary backgrounds are animal physiology and computational neuroscience; my main interest is the brain mechanisms that underlie cognition. I am extremely happy to have a bunch of highly talented coworkers and students joining the BMBF-funded BioFuture Research Group which I am currently leading at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology.

Meine primäre Hintergründe sind Tierphysiologie und Computational Neuroscience; mein Hauptinteresse ist das Gehirn Mechanismen, die Erkenntnis zu Grunde liegen. Ich bin extrem glücklich, einen Haufen von hochtalentierten Mitarbeitern und Studenten Eintritt in die BMBF-geförderten BioFuture-Forschungsgruppe, die ich derzeit führenden bin am Leibniz-Institut für Neurobiologie haben.

Melatonin target sites in the hypothalamus influencing seasonal variations in reproductive hormones have yet to be fully defined, although the premammillary hypothalamus is implicated (34). The philosopher Thomas Nagel once famously said: “only the bat can see the world as a bat, and only a human can see the world as a human” (Nagel 1974). In other words, knowledge about the neurobiology of human sexual activity may be extrapolated from animal experiments to a large extent, like e.g. the neurotransmitters involved and basic brain connections mediating motivation and inhibition.

Der Philosoph Thomas Nagel hat einmal gesagt: "Nur die Fledermaus kann die Welt wie eine Fledermaus zu sehen, und nur ein Mensch kann die Welt als Mensch sehen" (Nagel 1974). Mit anderen Worten kann Wissen über die Neurobiologie der menschlichen sexuellen Aktivität aus Tierversuchen weitgehend extrapoliert werden, wie zB die Neurotransmittern beteiligt und basischen Verbindungen im Gehirn vermittelnde Motivation und Hemmung.
