Suitable emitter materials are preferably conjugated polymers such as polyphenylenevinylenes and/or polyfluorenes, such as the polyparaphenylenevinylene derivatives and polyfluorene derivatives described for example in WO-A 90/13148, or emitters from the class of low molecular weight emitters, also termed “small molecules” in specialist circles, such as aluminium complexes, e.g. tris(8-hydroxy-quinolinato)aluminium (Alq ), fluorescing dyes, e.g. quinacridones, or phosphorescing emitters, e.g. Ir(ppy) .

Als Emittermaterialien kommen bevorzugt konjugierte Polymere wie Polyphenylenvinylene und/oder Polyfluorene, wie die beispielsweise in WO-A 90/13148 beschriebenen Polyparaphenylenvinylenderivate und Polyfluorenderivate, oder Emitter aus der Klasse der niedermolekularen Emitter, in Fachkreisen auch als "small molecules" bezeichnet, wie Aluminiumkomplexe, z.B. Tris(8-hydroxychinolinato)aluminium (Alq ), Fluoreszenzfarbstoffe, z.B. Chinacridone, oder phosphoreszierende Emitter, z.B. Ir(ppy) , in Betracht.
