There is no problem in remove the pupae from the earth. It will be more easier to check the pupae any time. I suggest you to place the pupae in a tray-like plastic box (only a few cm high) filled with a clay soil (not only clay!!) and try to keep it moist, just slightly during the summer. Pupae don´t need too much ventilation (it´s supposed that the pupal chamber made with a clay soil keeps the humidity levels and prevents dehydration of the pupa). Don´t water the pupae directly during the summer. You will have to add more water when temperatures begin to fall at late summer. When you see that imagos are fully developed inside the pupae you must water them directly. Then you could transfer them to a bigger recipient. I suggest you to use a thin mesh as imagos must be able to climb and extend its wings correctly.I hope I´ve been helpful. Good luck
