With the opening of religious schools, synagogues and religious facilities, Adass Yisroel developed into an independent community. Rabbi Dr. Esriel Hildesheimer, who was born in Halberstadt and had been actively engaged in the Austro-Hungarian city of Eisenstadt, became the Congregation's first Rabbi, and in 1873 he founded the Berlin Rabbinical Seminary. In 1880, Adass Yisroel consecrated its own community cemetery in the Berlin-Weissensee area on Falkenberger Chaussee (today Wittlicher Strasse). After originally being located on Gipsstrasse, the community centre and synagogue were moved in 1904 to 31 Artilleriestrasse (today the address is 40 Tucholskystrasse), where they are still to be found.

Mit der Eröffnung von Religionsschulen, Synagogen und rituellen Einrichtungen entfaltete die Adass Jisroel ein eigenständiges Gemeindeleben. Als erster Rabbiner wurde der in Halberstadt geborene, im ungarisch-österreichischen Eisenstadt wirkende, Rabbiner Dr. Esriel Hildesheimer berufen, der 1873 das Rabbiner-Seminar zu Berlin gründete. 1880 weihte die Adass Jisroel in Berlin-Weissensee an der Falkenberger Chaussee, heute Wittlicher Strasse, ihren eigenen Gemeindefriedhof. Nachdem sich anfänglich Gemeindehaus und Synagoge in der Gipsstraße befunden hatten, wurden sie 1904 in die Artilleriestraße 31 (heute Tucholskystraße 40) verlegt, wo sie sich noch heute befinden.

Manfred Gans Our Rabbi is a well known and respected spiritual leader in our community and beyond. Having completed sixty years as Rabbi of Congregation Machane Chodosh, Rabbi Gans is now retired but continues to lead the congregation as Senior Rabbi. Under his leadership the Congregation has developed into one of the major Synagogues in Forest Hills-Rego Park. Rabbi Gans is a scholar, a gifted speaker and educator who, in addition to his position as Synagogue Rabbi, has functioned as principal of leading Yeshivot in metropolitan New York. The founder and chairman of the board at Otsar Family Services, he is deeply involved in the welfare of the Jewish community, with leadership positions in numerous Jewish organizations and is a dedicated supporter of Medinat Israel - The State Israel. Rabbi Gans has served as President of the Vaad Horabonim of Queens - The Rabbinical Council of Queens. His warm and friendly personality has endeared him to countless people of all ages.

Manfred Gans Unser Rabbi ist eine bekannte und respektierte geistliche Führer in unserer Gemeinde und darüber hinaus. Nach Abschluss 60 Jahre als Rabbiner der Gemeinde Machane Chodosh, Rabbi Gans jetzt im Ruhestand ist, aber weiterhin die Gemeinde als Senior Rabbi führen.
